Pongo
Pongo
Pongo was rescued from the side of the road as a very young puppy, alongside two siblings. Sadly one did not survive, but Pongo and his sister pulled through.
Some of you will have followed Pongo's story, because this boy has been through more than most. He was due to travel to his adoptive home when he developed neurological problems. It took a long time, a great deal of effort and considerable expense to get to the bottom of it. He was seen by specialist vets, and eventually one offered to operate. A lump was found on his spine. It was not cancerous, and may well have been an old injury from his earliest days, though we will never know for certain.
The surgery was a success, and Pongo has made a full recovery. He now takes vitamins to support his neurological health, and he is, at long last, a well dog.
Pongo is playful, affectionate and full of life. He can be nervous of men to begin with, so he needs an understanding, patient family who will let him come to them in his own time. He shares his kennels with adult men and has come to accept and trust them, but it did take him a little while.
After everything, Pongo is finally ready to travel. His transport is booked for mid-August, and we would love to find him a foster or forever home before then.
